Greetings!

In the past 24 hours, updated forecasts for the rapidly approaching storm have changed significantly from a "glancing blow" to a more impactful widespread heavy, wet snowfall as a result of changes in the storm track and related conditions. At least some power outages are likely.

Based on the current forecast, I am raising the CT ARES activation status to Level 1 ALERT effective at 2000 (8:00 PM) EST this evening, Thursday, 4 February 2016.

Please maintain good situational awareness as this storm develops by watching/listening to your preferred weather forecast sources.

Please be prepared to assist our Partner Agencies (if requested) by ensuring your radio batteries are charged, vehicles and generators are fueled, etc.

The safety of you and your family should be your highest priority! Now is the time to make preparations to keep your family safe should you be asked to deploy.

Remember, you should NOT deploy without direction from the appropriate ARES or local official.

Greetings!

In some areas of the state (Regions 2, 3, and 4), the number of power outages are rising dramatically as a result of the heavy wet snow.

I am raising the CT ARES Activation to Level 2 STANDBY effective immediately.

Greetings!

Another winter storm has passed having produced heavy, wet snow that caused significant power disruptions, particularly in Region 4.

However, no Red Cross shelters have been opened and they are standing down.

A special thanx to our Skywarn Emergency Coordinators, Net Controls, and Spotters for their important ground truth weather reporting to NWS!

CT ARES is returned to Level 0 Inactive effective immediately.
